Debbie Rigby

Advanced practice pharmacist

Debbie Rigby is a consultant clinical pharmacist from Brisbane. Since graduation with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Queensland she has obtained a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy, Advanced Diploma in Nutritional Pharmacy and certification as an Asthma Educator; and credentialed as an Advanced Practice Pharmacist.

Debbie has special interests in geriatric pharmacotherapy, deprescribing, health behaviour change and asthma/COPD management, regularly conducts medication review services (Home Medicine Reviews) in collaboration with GPs in a medical centre, as well as providing education to pharmacists, general practitioners, nurses, nurse practitioners and consumers.

Over the last 20 years Debbie has served on numerous committees for pharmacy organisations including as Chair and Director of the Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacy (AACP), national vice-president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) and a PSA Qld Branch committee member. Debbie is currently the Chair of the PSA Interdisciplinary Team-Based Care Communities of Specialty Interest (CSI) and is on the Leadership Group of the Respiratory Care CSI.

Debbie is a Fellow of PSA, Australian College of Pharmacy (ACP), Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA), Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP), Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and a Life Fellow of American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP).

Academic appointments include Adjunct Associate Professor at University of Queensland and Griffith University, and a Clinical Associate Professor at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Debbie is a member of the QUT Bachelor of Pharmacy Course Advisory Group.

In 2001 Debbie was awarded the PSA Australian Pharmacist of the Year, in 2002 the PSA Qld Bowl of Hygeia, the inaugural 2008 recipient of the AACP Consultant Pharmacist Award and in 2016 awarded the Australian Clinical Pharmacy Award by SHPA. In 2020, Debbie was the first female awarded the PSA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dr Geraldine Moses

BPharm, DClinPharm, AdvPracPharm, AACPA, FPS, FACP

Geraldine Moses is a doctor of clinical pharmacy, specialising in drug information who has worked in medicines information for almost 30 years. She works part-time at the Mater Hospital South Brisbane in the Medicines Information Service and Academic Practice Unit and holds an Adjunct Associate Professorship in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Queensland. Since 2013, she has been appointed as Consultant Pharmacist to the Australian Dental Association providing a national drug information service called Pharma-Advice to members nationwide and writing a monthly column for the ADA News Bulletin.   

Geraldine spends much of her time providing continuing education at seminars and conferences for pharmacists, dentists, doctors, nurse practitioners and optometrists. She also consults to organisations such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, the New Zealand Dental Association, NPS MedicineWise, Australian Commission for Safety and Quality in Healthcare and the Qld Office of Health Ombudsman. She has served on numerous committees and boards over the years such as the TGA’s National  Drugs and Poisons Scheduling Committee (2000-2004), and has consulted to community groups such as the Australia Thyroid Foundation, the Schizophrenia Fellowship, Osteoporosis Australia and the Arthritis Foundation. She is also accredited for providing Medication Reviews and contributes to training for pharmacists wishing to become accredited.

In addition to holding her Doctorate in Clinical Pharmacy (2005), Geraldine holds a postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (1999) and certification as an Advanced Practice pharmacist (2015). She is  Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) and  Fellow of the Australian College of pharmacy (ACP) as well as member of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia, Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacists  and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.

Geraldine’s special interests include oral health, pharmacovigilance, adverse drug reaction, drug interactions, safety of complementary medicines and medico-legal issues. She has provided expert witness reports and evidence in court for legal cases pertaining to adverse drug effects since 2007.

In 2002 she was named PSA’s Australian Pharmacist of the Year and in 2013 was recognised with the Queensland ADA’s Award of Merit. In May 2018, she was made an honorary Lifetime Member of NPS MedicineWise.
